Pets, Vets and Jaffles

Tuesday 25th September 2012

We have a beautiful child by the name of 'Bron' who this week had to undergo surgery to remove a growth on his eye. The surgery was a success but poor Bron has to stay in a head cone for the next 10 days! Poor little guy hates it and has been Mr Glum for the past day-and-a-half. Fingers crossed the next 9 more days are breezy.

To pass time we decided our luck at making antipasto jaffles and fruit juices. The antipasto jaffles were amazing (pesto, salami, sun dried tomato, eggplant and mozzarella), and the juice didn't quite turn out 'juicy' instead we ended up with (apple, blueberry and raspberry) sorbet in a cup!

Overall a good day in the Jitterbug household.

City of lights

Tuesday 11th September 2012

Brisbane Australia is considered one of the 'sleepy' cities of Australia, yet it's hard imagine during September every year as September means the festival season. New years in most cities are the biggest times, with fire works and celebrations. Instead, every September, Brisbane put on a festival so big, it puts New Year celebrations to shame.

Living so close to the city means we get a piece of all the action right on our doorstep. A couple of nights ago we went to see the 'SANTOS City of Lights', and although only 10 minutes long, was absolutely amazing.

We (Jittney and Jess) set up a night time picnic beside the lantern walkway, which looked absolutely beautiful as the sun went down. With our hot wood fired pizza and home made lemonade we were set for the festival!

Sextant...

Saturday 8th September 2012

Today our family celebrates fathers day, yes we are a week off, but its one of the few days EVERY family member has off work and can come together. Our parents had us and our older sister when they were young, so our parents have always been our role models and friends. Today we celebrated by watching 'Little Bud's' last soccer game of the season and tonight an amazing feast.

Today we were also going through some old boxes of "junk" that a family friend was going to sell at an up coming garage sale, we found some amazing treasures! One of those treasures was a very old and very rusty sextant. We have been spending so much time restoring it back to its shiny old self. Most weekends we go to antique stores and see what little trinkets we find. Our favorite things to collect are old books (our favorite being an extremely old copy of Peter Pan) and little treasures like old scales and what not. Seeing the Sextant in the box made us almost cry with excitement. They are so beautiful and to learn how to use one, would be a tick off the bucket list!

Most days we have off work and study, we find ourselves fiddling with things we find and wondering how things work. All we can say is, life gets that little bit more interesting when you try and figure something out!

Thank you John Campbell for inventing the Sextant!
